Village website makeover

The original Scaynes Hill Village Community website was started about 10 years ago. That’s a long time in website terms and we felt it was time to completely revise and update the site with a more contemporary look. With more and more people using smart phones for all their online activity it was felt important to make the new website more smart phone friendly.

We have endeavoured to maintain the information that has proved popular and frequently visited in the past but have tried to present this in a more easily accessible manner. The Diary of Events has a completely new format which can be viewed either as a list as before or a monthly calendar view. The previous Articles and News sections have ben merged into a single section entitled Posts with thumbnail version of the latest six posts given on the Home page. There is also the facility to make comments or ask questions about the posts and you are encouraged to do this. The first time you comment it may not appear immediately as you will need to be approved by the website administrator, but once that is done you should be able to make other comments which appear immediately.

For information on the village we have divided it into two sections. The Community section relates to the people side of the village – the clubs, groups, societies and businesses in the village, while the section called ‘Village’ covers the more physical side such as the amenities, the surrounding countryside and a directory of local services etc. We have kept and improved our History pages as we are developing a significant archive of historical information. If you have any material which you think could be included we would love to hear from you. We have also included the popular Gallery section with albums of photos, including many historical ones.
