It’s not just the cost of electricity, gas and petrol that is going up at the moment but all energy costs including heating oil. For those not lucky enough to live in a house on the gas grid, heating oil has often been the fall back option for heating the home. One such resident of Scaynes Hill has contacted the website with details of a heating oil community buying scheme which could potentially save you money. The way it works is like this. For an annual charge of only £10 you can join the Community Oil Buying Syndicate (COBS) based in Nuthurst, which covers this area. Each week COBS obtains the best prices from a number of local suppliers of heating oil which is published by e-mail to all members. The price is fixed for the week and members can order directly from the chosen supplier, as and when required. There is no obligation to order oil through the syndicate at all. The minimum order is for 500 litres, and all members pay the same price per litre regardless of the order size.
More details of the scheme can be found on COBS website.
