Rethink: Refuse: Reuse: Rehome: Repair: Repurpose: Restore: Recycle
St Augustine’s Church are hosting a Great Big Green Festival from Thursday 22nd September to Monday 3rd October from 10 am to 4 pm daily. The key message is to live sustainably and promote the circular economy – so think LOCAL. We would love it if you could join us at this festival as we are hoping it will be a lot of fun and informative.
The Festival will have much to enjoy and discover. It will involve local producers of food and businesses who are supporting the sustainability agenda locally including Up Country Garden Centre, The Farmer’s Pub in Scaynes Hill and Fine Furnishings in Lindfield. You will be able to enjoy storytelling and music, measure your carbon footprint, do some apple pressing (with your own apples if you have any), find out what children are learning at St Augustine’s Church of England Primary School, experience the fruit and veg preservation skills of our forebears, learn more about a variety of bikes (including electric ones), get your bike security marked and be inspired to become more environmentally friendly. There will be eco focussed exhibitions, including an update on the Scaynes Hill – Lindfield cycle/walkway project, and a variety of Eco themed speakers committed to share their knowledge. There will also be opportunities to sign an open: letter to our MP about your concerns for the climate and sustainability; support the campaign to provide a cycle way to Lindfield and Haywards Heath; and to find out about simple ways you can live more sustainably.
As part of this festival we would very much like Scaynes Hill to join us in decorating our village with some creative and sustainable scarecrows from 22nd September to 3rd October. Get a group or family together and create FUN-tastic scarecrows that you can display in front of your house or organisation.
The full festival programme can be seen here and more details are available on the church website www.sash.org.uk
