The following information about Cuckfield Flower Club has been posted by Sue Spooner.
I know that I have advertised our flower club before but I think there is some confusion as to what a flower club is. We are not a horticultural society, we are members of NAFAS—-the National Association of Flower Arranging Societies. Having said that, you don’t have to arrange flowers to belong. We meet once a month eleven times a year at the Methodist Church in Perrymount Road, Haywards Heath. Please don’t think you have to live in Cuckfield to be a member. We have ladies from Haywards Heath, Scaynes Hill and even Balcombe.
We have trained demonstrators that show off their skills and give us tips along the way. On these occasions, you sit, watch, learn and perhaps win a stunning arrangement in our raffle. On other evenings, we might have a talk on Iris or Dahlias or listen to the head gardener from Borde Hill or Wakehurst.
If you want to take your flower arranging skills to a higher level, we have workshops in a low-key friendly manner. The more you practice, the better you get. You could even go on to become a local demonstrator or pass exams and become a National demonstrator. As they say, “The world is your Dahlia”.
As well as all the above, we have outings, visiting wonderful places such as Beth Chatto’s garden, Pashley Manor, The Sussex Prairie Gardens and many more.
The club is friendly and invites you to progress at your own pace whether just watching or doing.
You could join us for less than a cup of coffee and a cake every month. Why not give us a try at our wonderful Christmas demonstration on Friday December 13th 7.15pm for 7.30pm, cost £5, and you could go home with several new friends and possibly a beautiful flower arrangement.
