Bureaucrats in the Boundary Commission are working on plans to reform our parliamentary boundaries. They have come up with a non-sensical plan that would see Scaynes Hill (along with Horsted Keynes, West Hoathly and Sharpthorne) moved to a new constituency centred on Uckfield and East Grinstead. All our natural links are primarily with Haywards Heath, which is where most people living in Scaynes Hill go for services (eg health education, transport and shopping). Uckfield is in East Sussex so things such as roads, libraries, social care and fire service would be under the influence of an MP who would not see Scaynes Hill as a priority.
The Boundary Commission are consulting on their proposals and it is important that we show the weight of opinion locally if we would like to keep Scaynes Hill part of the Mid Sussex constituency where we more naturally belong. You can make your views known to the Boundary Commission by going to their website (https://www.bcereviews.org.uk) and making comments before the deadline of 5th December. The Boundary Commission attach considerable weight to the volume of responses they receive so please act today and ask your family, friends and neighbours to do the same.
Linda Stockwell, one of our local MSDC Councillors, has prepared a two page leaflet giving more details (see below). On the second page she gives some points you might like to make. Please note her e-mail address on the first page of the leaflet is incorrect and should read linda.stockwell@midsussex.gov.uk
