The footpath from the car park at the northern end of the Common going into Costells wood has been temporarily closed. An emergency Temporary Closure Order dated 7th June, which is effective from 14th June for 21 days has been posted at both ends of the relevant footpath (see map below) and a locked gate has been put at the northern end of the closed section. It is intended to close this footpath for a further 6 months until 3rd January 2024 while works extension works are carried out at Costells. The longer closure order up to 3rd January 2024 (or when the work is completed) has now been posted at both ends of the affected length of footpath.
